Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 9400 Cathedral

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 9400 Cathedral about 11:40 p.m. on Tuesday (August 1).

The suspect, Debra Morgan Davis (b/f, 58), is charged with murder in the 185th State District Court.  She is accused in the killing of Rodney Johnson, 49, of Houston.

A photo of suspect Davis is attached to this news release.

HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officers M. Waters II and M. Condon reported:

Mr. Johnson and Davis, his common-law wife, got into a domestic dispute at the above address.  During the altercation, Davis shot Johnson.  He was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  Davis fled the scene immediately after the shooting in a gray, four-door Hyundai Sonata.

About 7:20 a.m. today (August 2), Davis turned herself in to police at the HPD Southeast Patrol station without incident.  She admitted to and was subsequently charged for her role in Johnson's death.
