Tuesday, August 08, 2017

Missouri City City Council on Monday voted unanimously to order an election for November 7 to elect council members for Districts A, B, C and D.

The positions are currently held by Yolanda Ford, Don Smith, Anthony Maroulis and Floyd Emery, respectively. Candidate filing is underway and continues through August 21.

The city council postponed action regarding a request for a zoning change for a Planned Development District at the intersection of Lake Olympia Parkway and State Highway 6 to include a proposed adult day care center to be located in a lease space within the shopping center.

The city council postponed the item while the applicant considered another site. Members of the city council had voiced concerns regarding a proposal to utilize a landscaped island within the parking area as an outdoor recreation area.

The city council voted unanimously to approve, on first reading, an ordinance changing the name of Sienna Christus Drive to Sienna Crossing Drive.

The city council voted unanimously to award a $2,378,436 contract to Triple B Services, LLP for the reconstruction of Adams Street.

The city council voted unanimously to adopt a resolution supporting the reappointment of Russell C. Jones to represent Fort Bend County and Missouri City on the Gulf Coast Water Authority Board of Directors.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. Council Member Don Smith was absent. Agenda
