On the Parks Agenda: 1st Annual Oktoberfest Celebration—9/16; Intro to Lacrosse, Bingo & Ladies Doubles Social Tournament
The City’s first-ever Oktoberfest celebration will be held in the Community Center, 1522 Texas Pkwy.,
on Saturday, Sept. 16 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is free.

From 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16, Missouri City will host its inaugural Oktoberfest celebration in the Community Center in the City Hall complex, 1522 Texas Pkwy. This first-ever celebration will include authentic fare, entertainment and games to provide fun for the entire family.

Admission is free; food and beverages will be available for purchase. Attendees will also be able to purchase a $10 commemorative glass; the price includes one free beverage ticket.

In addition to Oktoberfest, the Parks & Recreation Department has a full recreation agenda that is fun for all ages:  

Introduction to Lacrosse

  • What:  A chance to see why lacrosse is the fastest growing game in the U.S. Participants will join volunteers and coaches at Ridgeview Park any time between 10 a.m. and noon to try out the sport – no registration required. Coaches will be onsite to share the fundamentals of the sport; all ages and levels of experience welcome. Classes are free, all equipment will be provided.
  • When:  10 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 12
  • Where: Ridgeview Park, 3902 Ridgeview Dr.

Bingo Night

  • What:  A monthly senior bingo night for area residents who are 50 and older. At a cost of $5, participants will visit with peers, enjoy dinner and play friendly rounds of bingo for great prizes. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
  • When:  5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 17 
  • Where: Recreation and Tennis Center, 2701 Cypress Point Dr.

Senior Foodies: Hoggs N’ Chicks

  • What:  A chance for food enthusiasts to meet new friends. This program provides attendees with the chance to enjoy a delicious meal at a local restaurant with great company. All participants are encouraged to RSVP. On the day of the event, participants will meet at the designated lunch location and will pay for their meal.
  • When:  11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 24
  • Where: Hoggs N’ Chicks, 8817 Hwy. 6, Ste. 900

How Does It Work?

  • What:  A behind-the-scenes look at Missouri City’s Fire Station 1. This free program will allow participants to learn about the station’s responsibility, its personnel and the assigned equipment. To join the tour, interested participants must RSVP through the Recreation and Tennis Center or by calling 281.403.8637 as spots are limited.
  • When:  10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 29
  • Where: Fire Station 1, 3849 Cartwright Rd. 

Ladies Doubles Social Tournament

  • What:  A chance to join friends and fellow players for a morning of tennis and fun. Snacks, prizes and a player’s lunch are included in the $20 tournament cost (there is a $5 discount for Recreation and Tennis Center members). Registration is due by Monday, Aug. 21.   • When:  9 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 31 
  • Where: Recreation and Tennis Center, 2701 Cypress Point Dr.

Senior Casino Trip: Delta Downs

  • What:  A fun-filled day at Delta Downs casino, which will include socializing, dining and game play. All participants are responsible for providing their own money for meals and games. This trip has limited capacity—to reserve a spot, stop by the Recreation and Tennis Center to pay the $10 transportation fee.
  • When:  7:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 12; check-in is at 7 a.m.  
  • Where: Recreation and Tennis Center, 2701 Cypress Point Dr.

Rise & Shine Morning Fit Camp

  • What:  A chance to get in shape and feel great through body weight exercises taught by instructor Cindy Hardin. All fitness levels are welcome to join. This class is free for members of the Recreation and Tennis Center; $5 day passes are available to non-members. Child care is available during the class.   • When:  9 a.m. – 10 a.m. every Tuesday and Thursday 
  • Where: Recreation and Tennis Center, 2701 Cypress Point Dr.
