Board of Trustees of the Galveston Wharves Special Meeting

The Board of Trustees of the Galveston Wharves, in a special meeting held Wednesday, unanimously elected to renew its contract with consulting firm Tetra Tech for a short period of time and then resolve issues pertaining to outstanding bills related to services provided during Hurricane Ike.

In a brief interview with Chair Ted O’Rourke told Guidry News Service the board discussed the matter in executive session prior to the vote. Listen (:23)

“We’re also going to go out with a (request for proposals) after 60 days to kind of just take a look and see if there’s anyone else that might want to bid besides Tetra Tech,” said O’Rourke.

The board voted 6-1, with Richard DeVries opposed, to hire Shey Harding Associates as the search firm for the port director position.

The board voted unanimously to conduct interviews of four individuals with the intent to hire a candidate to assist with the strategic planning process.

The board will have its regular meeting on August 28.
