Houston police are investigating several incidents that occurred during the weekend, including Sunday's fatal shooting of a man at 11818 Spring Grove Drive.

Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 11818 Spring Grove Drive

Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 11818 Spring Grove Drive about 10:10 p.m. on Sunday (August 13). 

The victim, Ibrahem Lawal, 60, of Houston, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K. Meek and Officers S. Overstreet and M. Cass reported: 

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at the above address and found Mr. Lawal had been shot while sitting inside his garage.  Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced him deceased. 

It is believed Lawal was struck by gunfire exchanged between a nearby residence and a passing vehicle.  Witnesses reported hearing several gunshots in the area. 

At this time, there are no known suspects.

Investigation into Shooting of Man at 4500 Idaho

Houston police are investigating the shooting of a man at 4500 Idaho about 10:55 p.m. on Friday (Aug. 11).

The victim, Vincent Lee Brown, 51, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in an unknown condition.

HPD Major Assaults Unit Officers R. Montalvo and R. Watson reported:

Mr. Brown was in a vacant lot at the above address when he was shot multiple times. 

There are no known witnesses nor suspects at this time.

Investigation into Stabbing of Two Persons at 7500 Cullen Boulevard

Charges are pending against a suspect arrested in the stabbings of a woman and a man at 7500 Cullen Boulevard about 1:55 a.m. on Sunday (Aug. 13).

The suspect, Tyrone Jerrod Lewis (b/m, 38), is facing charges of two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.  

The victims, Linda McGee, 52, and her son, Marcus McGee, 32, were transported to an area hospital in unknown conditions.

HPD Major Assaults Unit Detectives A. Williams and A. Hernandez reported:

Officers responded to a reported stabbing at a nightclub at the above address.  Upon arrival, they learned both victims and a male suspect (Lewis) had all been transported to an area hospital for treatment.  Ms. McGee suffered a stab wound to her left leg.  Her son, Mr. McGee, suffered multiple stab wounds to the back.  Lewis remains in custody at the hospital. 

Investigation into Fatal Crash at 10600 Homestead

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 10600 Homestead about 5:15 p.m. on Saturday (Aug. 12).

The male victim was transported to Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Ross and Officer O. Bledsoe reported:

The driver of a red Cadillac SRX SUV was stopped in a northbound lane of traffic at the above address when she was struck by a red Hummer H3 whose driver failed to control speed.  The driver of the Cadillac was seriously injured.  The Cadillac’s passenger was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The investigation is continuing.

Investigation into Fatal Crash at 13300 Scott Street

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 13300 Scott Street about 4:15 p.m. on Sunday (Aug. 13).

The male victim, 54, was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Ross and Officer N. Luu reported:

The driver of a black Nissan Altima was traveling northbound when she ran a red light at the above address and struck a white Ford F-350 pickup truck traveling eastbound on Almeda Genoa.  The driver of the Ford had the green light.  After being struck, the Ford struck a third vehicle, a red Dodge Dart, driven by the victim. 

The driver and two juveniles in the Nissan were transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Ford was not seriously injured.

The Nissan’s driver was examined by an officer with the HPD DWI Task Force and exhibited no obvious signs of intoxication. 

There are currently no charges in this incident, pending further investigation.

Investigation into Fatal Crash at 2800 Ella Boulevard

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 2800 Ella Boulevard about 7:20 a.m. on Saturday (Aug. 12).

The male victim, 58, was transported to Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital where he was pronounced dead.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Harris and Officer D. Ashford reported:

The victim was driving a black Honda Civic southbound on Ella Boulevard when he may have suffered a medical episode and left the roadway.  The Honda jumped the curb, traveled into the grassy area of a parking garage, struck several bushes, a pole and the garage wall before re-entering traffic.  The vehicle then crossed both the north and southbound lanes of Ella Boulevard before striking a cinderblock wall of a gas station at the above address.

No other vehicles nor individuals were involved in this incident.

The investigation is continuing.

Investigation into Fatal Crash at 500 West Crosstimbers

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 500 West Crosstimbers about 6 a.m. on Saturday (Aug. 12).

The male victim, 71, was transported to Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital where he was pronounced dead.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Harris and Officer E. Morgado reported:

The victim was driving a red Ford F-150 pickup truck westbound on West Crosstimbers when he failed to maintain a single lane, left the roadway and struck a utility pole in the parking lot of an apartment complex at the above address.

There were no other vehicles or individuals involved in this crash.

The investigation is continuing.

 
Investigation into Male Found Deceased at 5400 Lockwood

Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the death of a male found at 5400 Lockwood about 7:15 p.m. last Friday (Aug. 11).

The victim’s identity and cause of death are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants B. Chebret and R. Rodriguez reported:

A witness walking in Hutcheson Park observed the male floating in the bayou at the above address.  The HPD Dive Team was called to the scene to recover the victim, who was pronounced deceased.

The investigation is continuing.

Investigation into Male Found Deceased at 2201 75th Street

Houston police are investigating the death of a male found deceased at 2201 75th Street about 10:25 a.m. on Saturday (Aug. 12).

The unidentified victim was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity and cause of death are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants M. Brady and M. Casso reported:

Barge workers working the Buffalo Bayou Turning Basin observed the victim's body floating in the water.  With the assistance of the HPD Dive Team, the male was recovered.  The investigation is pending autopsy results to determine his cause of death.
