Houston police are investigating several incidents that occurred during the weekend, including Friday's apparent murder/suicide of a man and woman found at 5711 Sugar Hill.

Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 5711 Sugar Hill

Houston police are investigating an apparent murder/suicide of a man and woman found at 5711 Sugar Hill about 2 p.m. last Friday (August 18).

The identities of the victims, both believed to be in their 50s, are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Officers A. Vinogradov and D. Crowder reported:

Officers responded to a call for a welfare check at an apartment at the above address and found a man and woman unresponsive.  Both appeared to have sustained gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene.  

Investigators were told the victims were possibly in a dating relationship.  

The incident is being investigated as a murder/suicide.  Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.

Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 2200 Fannin

Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 2200 Fannin about 7:15 a.m. on Sunday (August 20).

The victim is identified as Isaiah Jones, 17.

HPD Homicide Division Detective D. Arnold reported:

Officers were called to a shooting at the intersection of Fannin and Webster and found the victim with a gunshot wound.  Paramedics transported the victim to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

At this time, there are no known witnesses nor suspect(s) in the incident.

Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 12100 Teaneck Street

Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a male found at 12100 Teaneck Street about 1:55 p.m. on Saturday (August 19).

The identity of the victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Rhodes and Officer T. Fay reported:

Officers were dispatched to a shooting call at the above address and found the victim with apparent gunshot wounds.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators learned the victim had arranged a meeting with the suspect to purchase an item.

Investigation into Infant's Death at 5918 Nelwyn

Houston police are investigating the death of an infant at 5918 Nelwyn about 3:10 p.m. on Saturday (August 19). 

The child, Michael James Obergas, 2 months, was pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital. 

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Holbrook and Senior Police Officer J. Roscoe reported: 

HPD patrol officers responded to the above address regarding a report of a child bitten by a dog.  Baby Michael was transported by HFD paramedics to the hospital. 

A preliminary investigation determined Michael had been left in a secure bedroom and one of the family dogs managed to open the door and attacked him.  Parents of the child were questioned and released.  Both dogs were taken by the City of Houston Bureau of Animal Regulation and Control. 

No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.

Investigation into Fatal Crash at 12400 South Sam Houston Parkway

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 12400 South Sam Houston Parkway about 6:30 p.m. on Friday (August 18).

The identity of the male victim, 54, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Ross and Officer P. Ngo reported:

The victim was operating a yellow Harley Davidson Trike and traveling eastbound on the service road at the above address when he failed to maintain a single lane and struck a retaining wall.  The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.  No one else was injured.

The investigation is continuing.

Investigation into Fatal Crash at 1415 Greens Parkway

A man critically injured in a crash at 1415 Greens Parkway about  11:05 a.m. on August 12 has died.

The identity of the victim, 44, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Arnold and Officer J. Perrotte reported:

The victim, a pedestrian, was struck in an apartment complex parking lot at the above address by a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.  The driver stopped, was questioned and did not show signs of intoxication.  The victim was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where doctors pronounced him deceased on Sunday (August 20).

The investigation is continuing.

Investigation into Fatal Crash at 5700 Van Fleet

Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash at 5700 Van Fleet about 2:45 a.m. on Saturday (August 19).

The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Harris and Officer F. Flynn reported:

The victim was walking in the roadway at the above address when a vehicle, possibly red in color and traveling westbound, struck him.  The victim was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was later pronounced dead on Sunday (August 20).

At this time, there are no known witnesses or suspect(s) in the crash.
