Jefferson County
Beaumont City Council
by Garrett Bryce
Tuesday, August 22, 2017

Beaumont City Council today voted unanimously to approve an agreement with Enterprise Refined Products Company, LLC for economic development incentives.

Enterprise Refined Products is considering the construction of new crude oil storage tanks, pipeline interconnects and a distribution system at its existing Beaumont facility.

Under the agreement, the city would abate 100 percent of taxes on improvements within the city limits, valued at $210 million, for 8 years beginning in FY2019.

The city council voted to adopt a resolution authorizing a development agreement with the Magnolia Garden Club related to the construction of an educational observation building overlooking the Cattail Marsh Wetlands Area.

The garden club has approved a contract for the construction of a 1,600 square foot building, which includes 400 square feet of interior classroom space. Upon completion of the building, the club will donate the building to the city, which will be utilized by the Beaumont Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Water Utilities Department to help promote wetlands, ecotourism and birding.

All items were approved. All votes were unanimous with Council Member Virginia Jordan absent. Agenda
