Barbara Cutsinger’s BAHEP Business Development Update

Barbara Cutsinger with the Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership has provided the Business Development Update for August.

"Braskem announced it will build the largest polypropylene (PP) production line in the Americas, and it will be located next to the company’s existing production facilities in La Porte," Cutinger reported. "Braskem is the leading thermoplastics resins producer in the Americas. The investment value of this project is $675 million for design and construction."

She added that the project is anticipated to provide 1,000 development and construction jobs, and an additional 50 full-time positions following its completion. Construction is planned to being mid-summer.

Cutsinger also reported that LyondellBassell has announced plans to build the world's largest propylene oxide and tertiary butyl alcohol plant in Channelview, with a capital investment of approximately $2.4 billion.

Memorial Hermann's Convenient Care Center, a 47,000 square foot facility in League City's Pinnacle Park, is under construction, with plans to open in January, according to Cutsinger.

Other news include restaurants underway or opened in League City, Pasadena, Dickinson, Seabrook, Webster, and at Baybrook Mall.
