Suspect Charged and Arrested for Arson

Harris County – Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office investigators have charged Efrin Martinez-Hernandez (DOB Dec. 09, 1997) with arson in connection with a commercial building fire in the 5000 block of US 90, Crosby, TX. Martinez-Hernandez was arrested after confessing to investigators he started the fire.

“HCFMO investigators arrested Martinez-Hernandez after he confessed to breaking into the building and starting the fire with matches and napkins,” said Public Information Officer Rachel Moreno. “Martinez-Hernandez admitted to having an argument with his girlfriend prior to the break-in and fire.”

Crosby Fire Department responded to the commercial building fire at approximately 5:35 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 21. Eight fire departments assisted Crosby Fire Department in controlling the blaze. The Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office Investigations Division is responsible for fire, arson, and explosion investigations in unincorporated Harris County.
