Port of Beaumont Board of Commissioners

The Port of Beaumont Board of Commissioners today voted unanimously to adopt the port's FY2018 Budget.

“We're expecting another pretty good year,” Port Director and CEO Chris Fisher said in a report he provided to Guidry News Service. “We came off a record year this year, and so we budgeted accordingly with that.” Listen (5:09)

The budget has projected gross revenues of $15,147,000, with expenditures, including revenue bond debt service requirements, of $9,954,093.

The port will have a net cash flow of $5,192,907, which will be used to fund capital projects. The port is also proposing an $85 million bond referendum on the November 7 bond election, which, if approved by voters, will provide for capital projects including the repair and rebuilding of Docks 2, 3 and 4.

The board voted to adopt a property tax rate of $0.066 per $100 valuation for the 2017 Tax Year.

The board voted to adopt the Texas County District Retirement System, which port authorties are under, plan and contribution rate. The board approved a contribution rate of 21 percent.

The board voted to renew its health insurance coverage for FY2018 with United Healthcare.

The board voted to amend the port's FY2017 Capital Improvement Plan. The capital improvement plan has a total of $169.2 million in projects, inclusive of approximately $1 million in projects added to the plan.

Fisher also reported that the port is currently maintaining operations through Tropical Storm Harvey.
