Officer involved shooting in La Porte

Shortly before midnight on Monday August 28th, La Porte Police Dispatch received a disturbance call between neighbors in the 3800 block of Barracuda Lane. It was reported that one of the subjects involved in the disturbance left the residence declaring that he was going to return with a gun and may have subsequently fired one or more shots outside the home.

Responding officers approached the home of the male suspected of making the threats and possibly discharging the firearm, and observed the male suspect through a front window, reloading a shotgun.

After a few moments, the suspect opened the front door to his residence and began pointing a shotgun in the officers’ direction. The suspect was repeatedly directed to drop the firearm, but continued to point the weapon in the direction of the officers. The suspect was subsequently fired upon by a La Porte officer and struck. La Porte EMS units were immediately summoned to the scene and advised that the suspect was deceased.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office, along with the Texas Rangers, were contacted, and will be conducting an investigation into the shooting.
