Friendswood residents are beginning the recovery phase following the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey. 

Thus far, the Department reports two storm-related deaths.  The first was Ruben Jordan, 58, of Friendswood, who was recovered by boat in the 3000 block of W. Bay Area Blvd.  The second was an elderly Friendswood Health Care Center patient, Ronald Zaring, age unknown. He was evacuated from the center on August 27, cared for at Friendswood High School and was being transported by a strike team to Huntsville on August 29 when he died. No other details about the victims are immediately available.The effects of Harvey are unprecedented and the impact on the community will be great. The Department estimates that more than 3,000 homes were flood affected. A curfew is in effect from 10:00 p.m. to 6 a.m. until further notice.
