Press Release
Saturday, September 02, 2017

The Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce will host a legislative luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on September 6th in the Floral Ballroom at Moody Gardens, 1 Hope Blvd., in Galveston. Guest speakers will include Congressman Randy Weber, Senators Larry Taylor and Brandon Creighton, and Representatives Wayne Faircloth and Greg Bonnen, M.D. They will address the current legislative session, the impacts of Hurricane Harvey, and the recovery process as it relates to our region.

The chamber’s legislative affairs and advocacy committees closely monitored the current legislative session for the betterment of our business community. Topics of discussion related to the legislative agenda will include Texas beaches, education, storm surge protection, Port of Galveston, windstorm (TWIA) and flood insurance and property taxes; all of which impact our community at large.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for us to give thanks to our representatives for their tireless work and dedication to our region, state, and nation,” said Gina Spagnola, president and CEO of the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce. “We encourage everyone to attend so we can be proactive about Hurricane Harvey and stay up to date with the legislative session.”

Tickets are $50 for chamber members, $60 for future members, and may be purchased online at, or by calling 409-763-5326. Reservations are required.
