CenterPoint/First Responders Go Door-to-Door for Mandatory Evacuation of Flooded West Houston Homes

HOUSTON - Under State law, Mayor Sylvester Turner has issued a mandatory evacuation order for about 4,600 homes already flooded by water in west Houston. The mandatory evacuation has been issued ONLY for flooded homes in the following areas:

  • From State Highway 6 east to South Gessner
  • From Interstate Highway 10/Katy Freeway south to Briar Forest

If you live in the above areas and have water in your home, you are being asked to evacuate your home as soon as possible.  Starting at 7 a.m. TODAY (Sunday, Sept. 3), CenterPoint employees began going door-to-door assessing homes for flooding.  Homes with water in them will then have the power turned off.

It is important to note:  All CenterPoint employees will be accompanied by a first responder (law enforcement or fire).

If you do NOT have flooding in your home, you will be allowed to return and/or remain.  Authorities ask for the public’s patience as they work to ensure residents only return to homes that are perceived as being safe.

Individuals needing to go to a shelter should go to NRG Park.

If you are in the mandatory evacuation area and need assistance, or if you have suspicions about the legitimacy of a CenterPoint employee, the City of Houston urges you to call 911.
