La Marque City Council, in a special meeting on Wednesday, voted unanimously to adopt a property tax rate of $0.490764 per $100 valuation for the 2017 Tax Year.

Of the total tax rate, revenues from $0.442233 per $100 valuation will fund maintenance and operation of the city, while revenues from the remaining $0.048531 per $100 valuation will fund payments on the city's bonded indebtedness.

The city council voted 4-0 to authorize the city manager to negotiate for the rental of a property, with an option to purchase, for a period of 12 months for use as city facilities, as discussed in closed session.

Mayor Bobby Hocking recused himself from discussions and the vote on the item.

During a special meeting on Tuesday, the city council voted unanimously to approve, on first reading, an ordinance adopting the FY2018 Budget. Proposed Budget

The final reading of the budget will be considered on September 18.
