Galveston Park Board of Trustees

The Galveston Park Board of Trustees, in a special meeting on Wednesday, held a workshop to discuss the park board's proposed FY2018 Budget.

According to the proposed draft budget, the park board anticipates revenues of approximately $32.29 million. Proposed Budget

The park board derives a large portion of its revenues from hotel occupancy taxes.

Expenditures include approximately $7.6 million for maintaining the nourished beach along Seawall Boulevard between 10th and 61st streets. The park board is expecting to receive grants to fund $6.1 million for maintaining the beach.

The proposed budget also anticipates $6 million in expenditures for tourism development, including the Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Visitor Information Center and promotion of tourism on the island.

Anticipated expenditures in the proposed budget total $31.67 million, leaving a net budget of $614,479.

The park board is expected to hold a meeting on September 12 to consider adoption of the budget.
