Governor Abbott, Commissioner Sharp Meet With Local Officials In Corpus Christi And Richmond, TX

AUSTIN - Governor Greg Abbott, Commissioner John Sharp of the Governor’s Commission to Rebuild Texas and heads of state agencies today met with local officials in Corpus Christi and Richmond to begin discussions on the rebuilding process following Hurricane Harvey. During their meetings, Governor Abbott and Commissioner Sharp updated the local leaders on the Commission's goal to oversee the response and relief effort and help affected communities get the help they need.

"Being on the ground and talking to local officials is essential to understanding the needs these communities have as they begin to recover,” said Governor Abbott. “Along with state leaders, Commissioner Sharp and I will be working tirelessly to help restore infrastructure in these areas as quickly as possible. We will not rest until the job is done.”

Today’s visits are part of a three-day, five-city trip that Governor Abbott, Commissioner Sharp and leaders from state agencies will be making to communities impacted by Hurricane Harvey. Tomorrow, they will visit Houston and Victoria, Texas.
