Remembering Jim Guidry Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership Gulf Coast Big Brothers Big Sisters
Galveston County
Galveston Park Board of Trustees
by Garrett Bryce
Wednesday, September 13, 2017

The Galveston Park Board of Trustees on Tuesday voted unanimously to adopt the park board’s FY2018 Budget.

The budget was approved as presented on Tuesday. The budget projects total revenues of $32,290,447, and planned expenditures of $31,675,967, leaving a net balance of $614,479 for the year.

The budget was adopted with the caveat that funds received through the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill settlement not be spent until a reserve fund policy is in place.

The board voted unanimously to waive beach user fees in lieu of Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund donations for September 30 and October 1. The park board will waive entry fees for Stewart Beach that weekend and ask for donations to support Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. The Galveston County United Way has offered to distribute the donations to organizations of the park board’s choice.

The park board voted unanimously to approve tourism development expenditures in support of emergency response efforts.

No other action items were on the agenda. Trustees John Zendt, Rocky Sullivan and Dr. Victor Viser were not present. Agenda
