GALVESTON, Texas – At approximately 6:00 a.m. the Galveston ISD Police Department was notified of possible shots fired at a GISD school bus that was in the vicinity of Seawall and 9th street. The Galveston Police Department was immediately notified and they responded. There were no students aboard the bus at the time of the incident. The bus driver and aide were not injured.

The responding officers conducted an investigation and it was determined that a small caliber weapon had been discharged at the school bus. An ongoing investigation is being conducted. The Galveston Police Department and the Galveston ISD Police Department continually work closely together to maintain a safe and secure environment for all our students.

School officials take this matter very seriously, and we are deeply concerned that this type of isolated incident would occur.

We are asking if anyone has any information related to this ongoing investigation; contact the Galveston Police Department at (409) 765-3702 or Chief Lee Roy Amador, at the Galveston ISD Police Department at (409) 766-5824.
