Galveston County
Dickinson City Council
by Garrett Bryce
Wednesday, September 13, 2017

Dickinson City Council on Tuesday voted unanimously to adopt the city’s FY2018 Budget.

The budget is based on a current tax rate of $0.40861 per $100 valuation, and projects total revenues of $17,382,425, with expenditures of $17,148,971.

The city council voted unanimously to approve, on second reading, an ordinance amending the city’s Tree Ordinance to allow the director of community development to approve or disapprove tree permit applications.

The change shifts the responsibility of approving tree removals from the city council to city staff. An applicant may appeal the decision to the city council.

The city council took no action resulting from executive session discussions.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. Council Member Louis Decker was absent. Agenda

During the meeting, the city council held a second public hearing regarding the city’s proposed tax rate.
