The Galveston College Board of Regents on Wednesday voted unanimously to reappoint Regent Raymond Lewis, Jr. as delegate and Regent Karen Flowers as alternate to the Association of Community College Trustees.

The board voted unanimously to nominate Vic Pierson for re-election to the Galveston Central Appraisal District Board of Directors.

The board deferred action regarding recommendations from the Facilities Committee concerning the Main Campus Instructional Building for Nursing and Health Sciences Programs, Applied Technology Center Instructional Building and the Student Housing projects.

The board deferred action regarding recommendations from the Facilities Committee concerning campus facilities damaged by Hurricane Harvey.

The board voted unanimously to accept the United States Department of Education's TRIO – Student Support Services Grant for the Building Bridges to Success project for 2017-2018.

The board voted unanimously to approve addendum F to the 2010 EduServe International Services Agreement.

EduServe provides services to the college's Information Technology system, particularly Colleague, which is used by faculty.

During the meeting, the board held a public hearing regarding the proposed property tax rate of $0.166188 per $100 valuation for the 2017 Tax Year. No members of the public requested to address the board concerning the tax rate. The board will consider adoption of the tax rate on September 22 at 8 a.m.
