Santa Fe City Council on Thursday voted unanimously to approve, on first and final reading, an ordinance temporarily suspending ordinances and regulations as an emergency measure in response to Hurricane Harvey.

The ordinance will allow residents to occupy travel trailers or recreational vehicles on their property while repairing storm damage to their homes. The regulations will be suspended for an initial period of six months, after which the item will be revisited by the city council.

The city council voted 3-2, with Bubba Jannett and Corey Jannett opposed, to approve a request to re-zone approximately 4.467 acres at 6700 FM 646 from an Agricultural Residential District to a Highway Commercial District.

The zoning request was to allow a Dollar General store at the location.

The city council voted unanimously to award a $59,890 contract to CEI Roofing-Texas for the library re-roofing project.

The city council voted unanimously to enter into a professional services agreement with Thompson Consulting for emergency debris monitoring services.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present. Agenda

During the meeting, the city council held public hearings regarding the city's proposed tax rate and budget.
