Galveston City Council on Thursday voted unanimously to approve and adopt the Five-Year Capital Improvement Plan for FY 2018-2022.

Finance Director Mike Loftin said the CIP was the work of many people. Listen (10:56)

“It is a rolling plan,” said Loftin. “The five-year plan for the beginning of this fiscal year has emphasis on streets, traffic, water, and sewer as it did last year with drainage.”

The city council voted unanimously to extend the declaration of a state of emergency because of Hurricane Harvey until October 31.

The city council voted 5-0-1, with Mike Doherty abstaining, to change the zoning of the Cedar Lawn neighborhood to a “Neighborhood Conservation District.”

An item authorizing the city manager to execute an agreement in which James Schweitzer will serve as the municipal court judge for a two-year term was deferred.

All other agenda items were approved unanimously with Frank Maceo absent. Regular Meeting Agenda Regular Meeting Video
