Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick had made appointments to the Legislative Committee on Aging and Advisory Council on Cultural Affairs and the Joint Interim Committee on Higher Education Formula Funding.

Lt. Governor Patrick Announces Appointments to Legislative Committee on Aging and Advisory Council on Cultural Affairs

AUSTIN - Today, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick announced the appointment of Sen. Donna Campbell, R-New Braunfels, as chair of the Legislative Committee on Aging, and the reappointment of Sen. Eddie Lucio, Jr., D-Brownsville, to the Advisory Council on Cultural Affairs.

Upon making the appointments Lt. Gov. Patrick said:

"Sen. Campbell and Sen. Lucio will ensure these entities operate under the best possible leadership as they address several important issues that affect our state. I am confident each of these appointees will work to assure that Texas remains a beacon of prosperity."

The Legislative Committee on Aging studies issues relating to the aging population of Texas, including health care, income, transportation, housing, education, and employment and makes recommendations to the legislature to address these issues.

The Advisory Council on Cultural Affairs studies and makes recommendations relating to the effect of changing demographics on the economy, workplace, educational attainment, health, veterans affairs, and political leadership.

Lt. Governor Patrick Announces Appointments to Joint Interim Committee on Higher Education Formula Funding

AUSTIN - Today, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick announced the appointments of Sen. Kelly Hancock, R-North Richland Hills; Sen. Lois Kolkhorst, R-Brenham; Sen. Juan "Chuy" Hinojosa, D-McAllen; Sen. Donna Campbell, R-New Braunfels; and Sen. Charles Schwertner, R-Georgetown, to the Joint Interim Committee on Higher Education Formula Funding. Sen. Hancock has been designated as co-chair. Upon making the appointments Lt. Gov. Patrick said:

"Improving the quality of higher education continues to be one of my top priorities. Each of these appointees will play an instrumental role in ensuring our state's higher education institutions continue to be efficient and competitive."

The Joint Interim Committee on Higher Education Formula Funding will examine how higher education institutions are funded and how they use special item project funds.
