Jefferson County Commissioners Court today voted unanimously to adopt a property tax rate of $0.364977 per $100 valuation for the 2017 Tax Year.

Of the total tax rate, revenues from $0.345296 per $100 valuation will be dedicated to maintenance and operation of the county, while revenues from the remaining $0.019681 per $100 valuation will be used to make payments on the county’s bonded indebtedness.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to adopt the FY2018 Budget.

The budget projects total revenues of $125,406,829 and total appropriations of $139,395,164. The county anticipates drawing from fund balance, which currently totals $50,418,830, to fund some expenditures. The projected ending fund balance in FY2018 totals $36,992,810.

The commissioners court tabled action regarding award a contract for Emergency Debris Monitoring Services.

The commissioners court tabled action regarding the approval of specifications for a request for proposals for emergency debris removal services in response to Hurricane Harvey.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to authorize the hiring of Lenneth Ray Gardner, Jr. as a deputy constable with Constable Precinct 2 under the ASAP Program.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to authorize County Judge Jeff Branick to execute an application for a Federal Aviation Administration grant to provide $3,222,505 for projects including Taxiway D Reconstruction Phase IV. The county will also provide a local match of $358,056.
