Fort Bend County
Missouri City City Council
by Garrett Bryce
Tuesday, September 19, 2017

Missouri City City Council on Monday voted unanimously to authorize the renewal and amendment of an agreement with Water Resource Management for utilities and engineering support for the city.

The action allows the city to retain specialized consultants for the city's Public Works Department, which is short-staffed due to Hurricane Harvey and the vacancy of two project management positions.

The contract will continue on a month-to-month basis. The estimated cost of the contract for the remainder of the fiscal year is $100,000.

The city council voted 6-1, with Yolanda Ford opposed, to approve, on final reading, a request to rezone approximately 29 acres of land from a Townhouse Residential District and Retail District to a Planned Development District to allow for the development of a light industrial business park.

The city council held public hearings regarding the city's proposed property tax rate and the Program Year 2016 Comprehensive Annual Performance and Evaluation Report. No action was held on either item.

The city council voted unanimously to authorize the city manager to enter into a contract with Cypress Creek Pest Control for mosquito spraying services.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present. However, Council Member Jerry Wyatt left during the meeting, and did not vote on various items. Agenda
