Deer Park City Council on Tuesday voted unanimously to adopt the city's FY2018 Budget.

The budget is based on a property tax rate of $0.72 per $100 valuation, and projects increased revenues of $737,436 compared to FY2017, with $312,662 to be raised through new property added to the tax rolls.

The city council voted to transfer $5,356,980 from the FY2017 unassigned fund balance of the General Fund to the Capital Improvements Fund.

The city has made similar transfers of unassigned fund balance in previous years to provide monies for future capital project needs.

The city council voted to ratify an application for a Public Assistance Grant through the Federal Emergency Management Agency to receive reimbursement for emergency protective measures and emergency debris removal related to Hurricane Harvey.

The city council voted to approve a contract with the University of Texas Health Science center for medical director services. The contract is at an annual fee of $24,000, for a term of 3 years.

The city council voted unanimously to authorize the publication of a notice of intent to issue certificates of obligation totaling $6.7 million.

The proceeds from the certificates will be used for further water and sewer system improvements.

The city council voted to reappoint Cari Brownlee and John Morgan and to appoint David Froneberger as associate municipal court judges.

The city counci voted to award a $288,233 contract to J.A. Costanza & Associates for the Sidewalk Improvement Project.
