Wednesday, September 20, 2017

Webster City Council on Tuesday voted unanimously to adopt the city's $39,145,780 FY2018 Budget.

The budget projects total revenues of $41,254,220, including transfers from other funds.

The city council voted unanimously to ratify an increase in property tax revenues as reported in the FY2018 Budget.

The budget is based on adoption of a proposed property tax rate of $0.31725 per $100 valuation, which would provide additional revenues of $644,927. Of that amount, $155,065 would be from new property added to the tax rolls.

The city council voted 5-1, with Martin Graves opposed, to approve, on final reading, an ordinance establishing the proposed planned development guidelines for an apartment complex for residents of 55 years of age or older, to be located at 1427 FM 528.

The city council voted unanimously to grant a special use permit, with conditions, for a Christmas tree lot at 17611 Old Galveston Road.

The city council voted unanimously to approve a contract with At Work Staffing, Inc. for temporary labor services.

The city council voted unanimously to award a contract to Horitcare Lawn Maintenance for mowing services. The contract is for an initial annual cost of $64,334, with an alternate of $68 per hour for extra work, and to allow a 3 percent increase for each of the subsequent four years of the contract.

The city council voted 5-1, with Graves opposed, to approve the purchase and installation of trees and an irrigation system from EDS Landscaping, in the amount of $99,100.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. Council Member Larry Tosto was absent. Agenda
