Kemah City Council
by Garrett Bryce
Thursday, September 21, 2017

Kemah City Council on Wednesday voted unanimously to authorize the mayor to negotiate with the Gulf Coast Center to seek the return of funds advanced from the city pursuant to an agreement regarding a proposed parking garage in the city.

The item was discussed in closed session.

The city council voted unanimously to authorize the mayor to negotiate and execute an economic development incentive package with a business seeking to expand into Kemah at 406 Texas Avenue, as discussed in closed session.

The city council took no formal action, but stated on record that the council was happy with the current status of the police department, and recommended a study be conducted to determine any increased efficiencies, and to bring back an item concerning the process and possible selection of a police chief at a later date.

The city council voted unanimously to table action regarding changes to financial reporting to the city council.

The city council voted 2-3, with only Wanda Zimmer and Kyle Burks voting in favor of approval, to deny a motion to approve an interlocal agreement with the Kemah Community Development Corporation regarding the allocation of cost for a performance rebate payment.

A motion to table the item had died for lack of a second.

The city council voted unanimously to appoint Dalia Pena as a new member Bay Area Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau Board of Directors.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present. Agenda
