The Texas City City Commission on Wednesday voted unanimously to adopt a property tax rate of $0.577179 per $100 valuation for the 2017 Tax Year.

Of the total tax rate, revenues from $0.480044 per $100 valuation will be dedicated to the city's maintenance and operation, while revenues from the remaining $0.097135 per $100 valuation will be used to make payments on the city's bonded indebtedness.

The city commission voted to adopt the city's FY2018 Budget.

The budget, as proposed, projected total revenues of $53,044,523, with expenditures of $51,175,675. The budget also projects an ending fund balance of $25,888,311. Proposed Budget

The city commission voted to adopt a resolution supporting a board to coordinate relief and recovery funds for Galveston County related to Hurricane Harvey, and to appoint Mayor Pro Tem Phil Roberts to serve on the board.

The city commission voted to adopt a resolution supporting the reappointment and appointment of members to the Galveston County United Board of Health as nominated by the Galveston County Commissioners Court.

Eric Froeschner, Dr. Ben Raimer and Dr. John Hackbarth have been nominated for reappointment, while Vanessa Johnson has been nominated as a new appointee.

The city commission voted to amend the city's FY2017 Budget to establish a special revenue fund to account for revenues and expenditures related to Hurricane Harvey.

A total of $1 million was transferred into the fund through a FEMA Disaster Relief Grant.

All items were approved. All votes were unanimous with Commissioner Dorthea Jones absent. Agenda
