The Village of Tiki Island Board of Aldermen on Tuesday voted unanimously to adopt a property tax rate of $0.319150 per $100 valuation for the 2017 Tax Year.

Of the total tax rate, revenues from $0.25 per $100 valuation will be dedicated to the maintenance and operation of the city, while revenues from the remaining $0.06915 per $10 valuation will be used to make payments on the city's bonded indebtedness.

The total tax rate does not exceed the effective tax rate of $0.332028 per $100 valuation.

The board tabled action regarding amendments to the FY2017 Budget.

The board voted unanimously to adopt the FY2018 Budget for the village. The budget was adopted with the notice that it will be amended at a later date. Budget (Proposed)

The board voted unanimously to nominate David Moss, Clay Morrison, Scott Brast, Victor Pierson, Kevin Cocoran, and Galveston County Tax Assessor-Collector Cheryl Johnson, who serves as an ex-officio member, for re-election to the Galveston Central Appraisal District Board of Directors.

The board discussed, but took no action regarding a possible ordinance for boat dock/finger pier inspections and maintenance, including fines for substandard docks and/or finger piers. The item is being investigating further.
