The Hitchcock City Commission on Monday voted 4-1, with Monica Cantrell opposed, to adopt a property tax rate of $0.50 per $100 valuation for the 2017 Tax Year.

The adopted rate exceeds the effective tax rate, and will increase the city's revenues from existing properties compared to the previous year. The 2016 property tax rate is $0.413202 per $100 valuation.

The city commission voted 4-1, with Cantrell opposed, to adopt the city's FY2018 Budget.

The city council commission voted 4-1, with Cantrell opposed, to approve an ordinance to limite the number of game room licenses to be issued by the city.

The city commission voted unanimously to endorse the Galveston County Commissioners Court's appointments to the Galveston County United Board of Health.

Eric Froeschner, Dr. Ben Raimer and Dr. John Hackbarth have been nominated for reappointment, while Vanessa Johnson has been nominated as a new appointment.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present. Agenda
