Investigation into Shooting Incident at 2700 South Loop West

Houston police are investigating an incident in which a suspect shot at HPD officers at 2700 South Loop West (South Interstate Highway 610 West) about 9:30 p.m. on Sunday (Sept. 24).

The officers were not hurt in this incident.

HPD Special Investigations Unit Sergeant H. Ruiz and Officers R. Gonzalez and N. Krupa reported:

An unidentified black male was involved in a disturbance at a restaurant at the above address.  During the incident, he began destroying several items inside the business and stated he would return with a gun.  He then left the scene.

A short time later, responding officers and civilians heard gunshots being fired toward the business from a vehicle on the South Loop service road.  One gunshot struck a marked HPD patrol vehicle parked in front of the business.  The vehicle was occupied by an HPD officer who was not struck.  A second officer had just exited the vehicle to respond to the scene.

The suspect vehicle is believed to be a white or silver Dodge Durango SUV with paper license plates.

Anyone with information on this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-222-TIPS or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
