Salvation Army Style Show Rescheduled due to Harvey Relief efforts

Galveston – The Runway to Hope Style Show honoring Carol Greaney-Wurst and scheduled for October 3 has been rescheduled to March 2, 2018 in light of the extraordinary on-going disaster relief efforts in Galveston County.

“The board advised against moving forward with the October 3rd date because of the Army's heavy disaster response and the sensitivity needed for those recovering from Harvey's damage in our county,” said Captain Jennifer Jones. “We are very grateful to our sponsors and vendors for their continued support. We’ve been blessed by the extraordinary generosity of the community as they have pulled together to provide hurricane relief for their friends and neighbors. Recovery shall continue and will eventually be complete. However, the mission of The Salvation Army to meet human need in the name of Jesus Christ does not end and we will still be here with our programs designed to prevent homelessness and help people reach self-sufficiency in their lives. Your support is needed now, more than ever!”

Everyone who had made reservations was notified early on that the event was to be rescheduled. Refunds will be offered to anyone with a conflict on the date voted on by the Women’s Auxiliary at their September meeting. “Every cloud has a silver lining, “ said Elizabeth Quigley, chair of the event. “This gives us more time to collect treasures for the Closet of Hope, formally known as the Chic Boutique. It will still be chic, but the items purchased there will provide hope for many in our community who struggle everyday just to get by. We are counting on the community to stock it by donating their gently used designer pieces, including some of those wonderful Mardi Gras gowns that will be on display in February!”

Sponsorships and tickets are already on sale at www.salvationarmygalvestoncounty.org. Click on the Runway of Hope tab. For more information, call Holly McDonald at 409-763-1691 ext. 75313.
