Scholarship America awards $20,000 grant for Hurricane Harvey recovery


PASADENA, Texas – San Jacinto College is the recipient of a $20,000 grant from the Scholarship America National Disaster Relief Fund. ­


The grant program was established to ensure postsecondary students are not forced to interrupt their education due to financial hardships created by Hurricane Harvey. Scholarship America administers this program according to guidelines established by the National Disaster Relief Fund. 


Scholarship America designs and delivers high impact education aid programs for hardworking students of all kinds, with a special focus on helping those most in need and deploying aid in the most effective ways to support completion, according to the Scholarship America website. The organization works for, with and alongside students, families, businesses, foundations and institutions to help students achieve postsecondary success by designing and delivering the best private scholarship and education support programs.


Following the devastating flooding as a result of Hurricane Harvey, the San Jacinto College Foundation established an Emergency Relief Fund to assist students and employees. To date, the fund has raised nearly $100,000, including the recent contribution from the Scholarship America National Disaster Relief Fund. For more information, visit
