Moody Bank Reopens in Energy Corridor in Modular Building
Press Release
Monday, October 02, 2017

Moody Bank Energy CorridorHOUSTON – Moody National Bank has reopened its West Houston branch, located in Houston’s Energy Corridor, in a temporary modular building as it repairs its flood-damaged building at the same location, 850 N. Eldridge Parkway. The bank’s other 14 branches in the greater Houston/Galveston area were open within days of Hurricane Harvey hitting the Gulf Coast.

Moody Bank President Victor Pierson said, “We’re shooting for an early 2018 reopening of the main bank building, which was heavily damaged by floodwaters. Opening in a temporary building less than a month after flooding receded is a testament to our staff’s commitment to serve our customers.”

The modular building for the West Houston banking center, which opened on Monday, Sept. 25, was designed and built specifically for bank use and includes a drive-thru window, a night deposit box, a vault and a teller station.

Immediately after Harvey struck, Moody Bank staff focused on fully restoring banking services at all locations, helping its 42 employees who suffered property losses, and supporting impacted communities. The Galveston-based community bank has 16 locations in Harris, Galveston, Fort Bend, Brazoria and Travis counties. On Aug. 30, 12 locations were open with all but the West Houston location to follow quickly.

The American Bankers Association is featuring Moody National Bank in a hurricane recovery video to be aired at the ABA national conference this fall. On Tuesday, Sept. 26, an ABA video crew was in Galveston to interview Pierson and other bank employees about their post-Harvey recovery and relief efforts. The video also features select banks impacted by hurricanes Harvey and Irma in Texas and Florida.

Moody National Bank is the sixth largest community bank in terms of market share in the Houston area with $972.75 million in assets as of June 30, 2017, according to the FDIC.  It has a total of 207 employees.
