GALVESTON ISLAND TREE CONSERVANCY TO CELEBRATE "ARBOR DAY GALVESTON"
- SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 19TH

GALVESTON ISLAND, TEXAS -The Galveston Island Tree Conservancy will celebrate their annual Arbor Day Galveston event Sunday, November 19th, from 12:30 -3:30pm. The luncheon, libations and silent auction will again be held in the Conservatory at The Bryan Museum, 1315 21st Street.

This year's Deep Roots award, presented by the Galveston Island Tree Conservancy (GITC), will be presented to Dr. Craig Brown. Special guest speaker will be Janette Davis, Assistant Director, United States Forest Service Cooperative Forestry.

"For the GITC, our most important goal is to educate our citizens about the importance of trees and to emphasize why trees are so important to our community," noted Executive Director and Senior Arborist, Priscilla Files. "In the last nine years following Hurricane Ike, the Galveston Island Tree Conservancy has planted over 15,500 trees throughout Galveston, with 250 Live Oak trees and 60 Palms planted on Broadway - the island's major thoroughfare and 'gateway.' "

Arbor Day Galveston is open to the public, with tickets available at $80 per person; tables for 8 available for $600. Each ticket includes admission to the museum for attendees who purchase tickets in advance. Museum tours will be available from 11am-12:30pm, immediately preceding the Arbor Day Galveston luncheon.
