Update: Murder Arrest Made Stemming From June Fatality Accident

An arrest has been made for the offense of Murder stemming from the June 18th 2017 fatality accident where 13 year old Kenneth Edmond III lost his life. On June 18th 2017, Officers with the Galveston Police Department were dispatched to several hotels on the Island in reference to burglaries in progress.

A description of the suspect vehicle was provided and Officers later learned that the vehicle was reported as stolen.  Patrol Officers with the Galveston Police Department located a vehicle matching the description and attempted to perform a traffic stop.  The stolen vehicle fled from Officers at a high rate of speed and ultimately left the roadway and made impact with a residence located near 28th Street and Avenue K. Edmond died at the scene and the driver fled on foot.

After an extensive investigation of the incident, Detectives were able to corroborate with the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office and formally filed an arrest warrant for Frederick Degrassa York (19) of Galveston, Texas.  York is accused of being the driver of the vehicle that ultimately took the life of Edmond.

On October 5th 2017, Frederick Degrassa York was arrested for Murder by the Galveston Police Department.  York was placed in the custody of the Galveston County Jail with a bond set at $150,000.
