Nassau Bay City Council
by Garrett Bryce
Tuesday, October 10, 2017

Nassau Bay City Council on Monday voted 6-1, with Bob Warters opposed, to adopt a property tax rate of $0.742120 per $100 valuation for the 2017 Tax Year, representing an effective tax decrease of 3.2 percent.

The rate is equal to that of the 2016 tax rate, and is lower than the effective tax rate of $0.766480 per $100 valuation.

Of the total adopted tax rate, revenues from $0.694113 per $100 valuation will fund the city's operation, while revenues from $0.048007 per $100 valuation will be dedicated to payments on the city's bonded indebtedness.

The city council voted unanimously to appoint Council Member John Mahon as respresentative and Council Member Jonathan Amdur as alternate to the Houston-Galveston Area Council General Assembly for 2018.

The city council voted unanimously to reappoint Holly Williamson as presiding judge of the municipal court.

The city council voted unanimously to approve an ordinance, on first and final reading, to provide for the termination of the previously signed Declaration of Disaster dated August 23.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present. Agenda
