Fort Bend County Commissioners Court today voted 3-1, with Andy Meyers opposed, to approve a proposal by Arthur J Gallagher Risk Management Services, Inc. for aircraft hull and liability insurance covering the 1971 bell helicopter operated by the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office through September 17, 2018.

The policy provides $5 million in aircraft liability coverage, at a premium of $12,105. The cost of the policy is to be paid through the Federal Forfeited Assets Fund in the sheriff's office.

Meyers stated he opposed the item due to the funding source.

“I renew my objection to utilizing the civil forfeiture funds,” Meyers said. “I really don't think we ought to be in that business.” Listen (0:52)

The commissioners court voted unanimously to award a $4,645,912 contract to Allgood Construction Co., Inc. for construction of the Williams Way Boulevard Project. The project includes street improvements from FM 762 the US 59/IH 69 Northbound Frontage Road.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to authorize negotiations with Teal Construction for the construction of the sheriff's office administration building.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to accept additional grant funds through the Organized Crime Drug Task Forces Agreement, in the amount of $17,447, for use in the Strike Force/Strategic Initiative Programs administered by the sheriff's office.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to accept additional grant funds through the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces Agreement, in the amount of $18,042, for use in the Strike Force/Strategic Initiative Programs administered by the sheriff's office.

The commissioners court took no action resulting from closed session discussions regarding the Fort Bend County Records Management Policy.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. Commissioner Grady Prestage was absent. Agenda
