Next Gen Mobility Showcased with Driverless Vehicle Demo

METRO is shifting smart driving into high gear by inviting some of the state’s top transportation leaders to go for a spin in a driverless vehicle.  The autonomous vehicle demo kicks off the Texas Mobility Summit scheduled for Oct. 15-17, 2017 in Houston. The three day event brings together industry leaders, researchers, and policy makers to share ideas and map out a strategy to bring intelligent driving to mass transit.

The Texas Automated Vehicle Proving Grounds Partnership demonstration will take place at Houston TranStar Sunday, Oct. 15 from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at 6922 Katy Rd. Participants will witness how a driverless vehicle can sense its environment and navigate surroundings.

The demonstration is being hosted by METRO in partnership with Texas A&M Transportation Institute, the Center for Transportation Research and the Texas Innovation Alliance.

The Texas Mobility Summit brings smart cities together with teams from Arlington, Austin, Bryan-College Station, Coastal Bend, DFW (Tarrant County), El Paso, Houston, San Antonio as well as R&D and Open Data.
