Galveston College Board of Regents
by Garrett Bryce
Thursday, October 12, 2017

The Galveston College Board of Regents on Wednesday voted unanimously to authorize negotiations with John Manlove Marketing and Communications to provide marketing and branding consulting service for the college.

Negotiations were authorized in an amount not to exceed $150,000.

The board voted unanimously to approve a recommendation by the Facilities Committee regarding construction of the Main Campus Instructional Building for Nursing and Health Sciences Programs, the Applied Technology Center Instructional Building, and Student Housing Projects.

The item was approved with the adjustment that the framing of the student housing project would utilize light mental framing as opposed to wood.

The board took no action regarding matters concerning campus facilities damage caused by Hurricane Harvey and an invitation to bid for replacement of the Whitecaps Dorm roof. Both items were postponed while the college awaits an analysis of the damages from the storm.

The board voted unanimously to approve a 2-year program in Computer and Network Administration, including level 1 and 2 certificates and an Associate of Applied Science Degree.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. Regents Armin Cantini and Tino Gonzalez absent. Agenda
