Disaster Recovery Town Hall Scheduled in Beaumont for Hurricane Harvey Victims

BEAUMONT, TX - October 13, 2017– United Way of Beaumont and North Jefferson County has partnered with Catholic Charities of Southeast Texas and Texas Appleseed to coordinate and sponsor a Disaster Recovery Town Hall meeting on Saturday, October 21 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Beaumont.

The event will be open to the public, and anyone who has been affected by Hurricane Harvey is encouraged to attend. This meeting is designed to serve as an informative one-stop shop for hurricane victims who are still seeking assistance or answers, and to inform the community of long term plans for the area, as well as plans for rebuilding.

Topics to be discussed include: “How to Apply for FEMA aid,” “What to do if you’re denied aid,” “What are your rights with your landlord,” “What are your rights with your mortgage,” and “Other benefits – disaster unemployment, health insurance, etc.”

Representatives from aid organizations, state government, local government and FEMA will be in attendance.
