The Golden Triangle Rose Society Hosts the 2017 Convention and Rose Show
of the South-Central District

BEAUMONT, Texas – The Golden Triangle Rose Society (GTRS) of the South-Central District of the American Rose Society is hosting the 2017 Convention and Rose Show. The event will take place November 3 - 5 in Beaumont, Texas, with attendees coming from Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Texas. A welcome reception will kick off the convention at the Tyrrell Park Garden Center Building, Friday, November 3 at 6 p.m.

Members of the South-Central District will meet in the lobby of the Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites Beaumont – Plaza at 6 a.m. on Saturday, November 4 to enter their roses into competition. Community members who are interested in competing, can enter their roses from 6 – 9:30 a.m. Judging begins at 9:30 a.m. and is open to the public for viewing at approximately 12 p.m.

“Rosarians” in attendance will have the opportunity to attend informational meetings, a banquet social and awards banquet for those who are a part of the South-Central District. Awards will be given out at the Saturday evening banquet for those who will be recognized for their service to the South-Central District in 2017.

The GTRS was organized in 1963 for those in the Beaumont-Port Arthur-Orange area, surrounding counties and parishes, as a way for rose growers to exchange information on success stories and growth of the best roses. The GTRS was organized as an educational organization dedicated to the furthering of care and culture of the rose. Through these meetings and seminars, the GTRS has been able to share advancements in care techniques in the cultivation of excellent roses.

“We grow ‘em, show ‘em and share ‘em” said Tommy Hebert, Master Rosarian. “It is important that we confirm our willingness to assist those who want to learn more about roses. By sharing our knowledge and skills, we have the opportunity to help those in need of a lift in their lives. The look of surprise and appreciation on the faces of those receiving our roses more than repays our efforts.”

The event will not only be a place for those in the South-Central District and community to showcase their roses, but also act as a “First Aid” for those whose earlier efforts to grow roses resulted in failure for lack of good advice. The Golden Triangle Rose Society wants to provide advice whenever and wherever it is needed, at no charge.
