Jamaica Beach City Council

Jamaica Beach City Council on Monday voted 3-2-1, with Gene Montgomery and Marci Kurtz opposed, Rosemary Lindley abstaining, to approve a contract with Atkins North America, Inc. for professional services associated with obtaining a permit for seaweed maintenance.

The permit is issued by the United States Army Corps of Engineers. Mayor Steve Spicer cast the tie-breaking vote to approve the contract.

The city council voted unanimously to appoint Council Member David Welch as representative and Montgomery as alternate to the Houston-Galveston Area Council General Assembly for 2018.

The city council voted unanimously to reorganize the Park Board Committee to consist of five members serving two year terms.

The city council voted unanimously to approve the Park Board Halloween event in an amount not to exceed $850, with costs to be paid through the Reserve Park Board Fund.

The city council voted unanimously to authorize advertising for bids for the city's bank depository contract.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present. Agenda
