Sugar Land City Council

Sugar Land City Council on Tuesday voted 4-3, with Mary Joyce, Carol McCutcheon and Amy Mitchell opposed, to amend the city's FY2018 Budget and Capital Improvements Program.

The amendments include reduction of General Fund expenditures totaling $1.58 million to accommodate anticipated revised revenues and expenditures. Recommended cuts include the elimination of special events, including the Year's Eve and the Star Spangled Spectacular, among other items. News Release

The city council voted unanimously to adopt revisions to the streetscape policy, which establishes standards of beautification, lighting, landscaping and maintenance of the city's rights-of-way.

The revisions include clarification of the definitions of Imperial Routes and Signature Rouds, including specifying the boundaries of US 90A from US 59 to State Highway 6 as Imperial Route, and adding the roadways within the New Territory and Greatwood that meet the definision of a Signature Route as a result of annexation.

Also included is language to help identify the annual reimbursement rates for Signature Routes to the Homeowners Associations or council-approved entities, and adding language to help identify the annual reimbursement rate for streetlights.

The city council voted unanimously to approve appointments to the Animal Advisory Board and to the PARCS Advisory Board.
