The Galveston Island Pachyderm Club on Thursday hosted Congressman Randy Weber at its monthly luncheon.

Weber discussed Hurricane Harvey, noting it as the "single largest flooding event" in the United States' history.

"Our district is arguably ground zero for flooding," Weber said. Listen (42:27)

Weber also spoke on Hurricane Ike, which struck in 2008, which he described as "the forgotten hurricane."

"We are not going to let that happen with Harvey," he said.

Weber discussed federal relief packages for the storm, and assistance available, including loans from the United States Small Business Association.

Weber also talked on topics including energy independence, healthcare reform, environmental regulations, trade and other issues concerning Congress.

Juan Peña provided pictures of the event.
