Jefferson County Commissioners Court

Jefferson County Commissioners Court today voted unanimously to approve an interlocal agreement between the county, the City of Nederland and the Nederland Economic Development Corporation for construction of airport development infrastructure improvements for Judice’s Restaurant.

The commissioners court voted to amend a lease agreement with Al Judice, doing business as Judice’s Restaurant, to increase the size of the premises to be leased to the business to be a two story building instead of a one story building. Listen (18:20)

The commissioners court voted to nominate Commissioner Brent Weaver to serve on the Texas Conference of Urban Counties Policy Committee.

The commissioners court voted to approve a lease agreement with Beaumont Dream Center and Harbor House Foundation for the lease of the former Al Price Juvenile Detention Center at 3890 FM 3514.

The lease is for a 20 year term, with two five-year renewal options, at a rate of $1 per month.

The commissioners court voted to authorize the hiring of Stephen R. Hinton as a part time bailiff with the Constable Precinct 7 office.

The commissioners court voted to execute a City of Beaumont consent form for demolition of an unsafe structure at 1410 Emile Street.

The commissioners court voted to renew the county’s employee and retiree health benefits with the Southeast Texas Government Employee Benefits Pool.

The renewal includes rate increases of 10 percent for active employees and retirees for health and for dental benefits. Life Insurance and Long Term Disability Insurance will not change. Retiree benefits will increase by 5.3 percent.

All items were approved. All votes were unanimous with County Judge Jeff Branick and Commissioner Everette “Bo” Alfred absent. Commissioner Eddie Arnold presided over the meeting. Agenda
