La Porte City Council on Monday voted unanimously to appoint Council Member Chuck Engelken as representative and Council Member Jay Martin as alternate to the Houston-Galveston Area Council 2018 General Assembly.

The city council voted unanimously to accept a quote of $63,000 from Athletic Field Specialists for the reconstruction of 10 sports fields at Pecan Park.

The city council took no action regarding the abandonment of a 140 square foot portion of the West S Street right-of-way located adjacent to the Troon Drive private access easement. The item was pulled from the agenda.

The city council took no action regarding a request to rezone an approximately 5 acre tract located along South 16th Street north of the West M Street right-of-way from a Commercial District to a Light Industrial District. The item was pulled from the agenda.

The city council took no action regarding a request to rezone the same five acres to a Planned Unit Development District.

The request had been made to allow an existing truck terminal to relocate to the site. The item was pulled from the agenda.

The city council voted 8-1, with Nancy Ojeda opposed, to grant a special conditional use permit to allow for extended hours of operations at the truck pre-check facility at 900 East Barbours Cut Boulevard.

The request was made by the Port of Houston Authority to allow operation of the facility from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Currently the hours of operation are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The city council voted unanimously to approve the creation of an in-city Municipal Utility District.

The city council discussed, but took no action regarding a gate and fence erected on property located between Lots 3 and 4in Crescent View Subdivision.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present. Agenda
