Beaumont City Council today voted 6-1, with Gethrel Williams-Wright opposed, to approve the first phase of an agreement with Lockwood, Andrews and Newnam, Inc. for the assessment of the city sewer collection system.

The first phase will cost a total of $650,000 and will be funded through the city's Capital Program.

The city council voted unanimously to deny a request for a specific use permit for temporary recreational vehicle parking at 2310 Smart Street.

The city council voted 6-1, with Audwin Samuel opposed, to approve amendments to the the city's Zoning Ordinance. The amendment was to Section 28.03.021(d), regarding the Sign Overlay District. The amendment will adjust the boundaries of the Major/Dowlen/Gladys/Highway 105 Sign Overlay District.

The request was made to utilize the vehicles as temporary housing for disaster response volunteers for one year for Hurricane Harvey response.

The city council voted unanimously to appoint Sohaib Jabbar to the Community Development Advisory Committee.

The city council voted unanimously to authorize the city manager to execute an earnest money contract for the sale of city-owned property at 4495 Ironton Street.

The city is selling the property for a total of $25,000.

The city council voted unanimously to approve the reconstruction of two ambulance boxes for use in the EMS Division.

The boxes will be reburbished and remounted by Frazer Ambulance for a total estimated amount of $167,100.

The city council voted unanimously to apply for $30,000 in grant funding through the National Endowment for the Humanities to fund repairs of the Tyrrell Library, which was damaged during Hurricane Harvey.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present. Agenda
